Good News
Good news continues to come out of
Nigeria. I spoke with Rev. Sunday in Maiduguri recently, and he confirms that
everyone in the villages are still excited about moving forward with the
project. However, they have not been able to get back to meet with the District
Chief yet, so continue to pray for favor and expedience with this meeting. As I
shared last month, I am planning to return to Nigeria at the end of October for
at least 2 weeks to begin the process of defining the area of land to be given
to us and procuring the documents for legal ownership. Again, we need your
prayers for wisdom, direction and favor regarding this outreach.
Sunday's Boys
As you know, God has assembled a native
team of Nigerians who share our vision for the Kanuri and have worked faithfully
and tirelessly beside us for these past 10 years. I have mentioned many times
about the makeup of the team consisting not only of nurses, doctors, ministers
and lay people, but also of wives working alongside of their husbands. During
our outreach in February as well as my trip in June, we were blessed to not only
have spouses but children accompany us on our journeys as well. Rev. Sunday's
two boys, Hope and Victory, were able and very willing to join us as we
ministered in the bush. Victory helped out alongside Robert with the registering
of patients while Hope joined Kristen and Lauren in handing out candy and
slippers. Rev. Sunday has told me several times that Victory's desire is to
become a doctor so that he can become a part of the team helping the villagers!!
Web Page Update
If you have checked out our web page
lately, Dorcasmedical.org,
you know that it is out of date by more than a year. My apologies for that, but
now it is updated with our latest newsletters and pictures. We invite you to
check it out and give us your feedback, positive or negative. What you like or
how you think we could make it better.
Van Anniversary
In November, it will be one year since we
purchased the van that so many of you made possible by your faithfulness. The
observance of this one year anniversary, however, comes with a price. There are
taxes, licenses, taxes, and more taxes! There are 5 or 6 decals (ie: taxes) for
the vehicle that we are required to have. Some of these are yearly, others are
semi-annually. We are constantly checked at security roadblocks and if we are
not updated as we should be it is quite a hassle. We would greatly appreciate
your help with these expenses that will keep us on the road.
