Change in Plans
There has been a change in my travel plans for our
outreach this month. I was su pposed
to be in Nigeria from Oct 28 - Nov 9th. However, two weeks before my
departure, I was contacted by our team leader in Maiduguri, Rev Sunday
Daniel, that the rains had been very heavy this year and were continuing
throughout the month. He did not feel that we would be able to get out
to the villages without great
difficulty as the water usually remains standing 2-3 weeks after the
rains finish. This makes for nearly impassable roads as we have
encountered in the past with the vans getting stuck in mud up to the
axles as well as lengthening the trip to 3-4 hours or more to go 15
miles. Therefore, my plans have changed and I will be traveling to
conduct our outreach Nov 11 - 23.
OTC Meds
As I wrote last month, our budget for meds and soap
packets has been met. We can still use your help with Over-the-Counter
medicines such as Tylenol and Motrin especially for children. We also
want to extend our deep appreciation to the congregation of Wings of
Faith Fellowship in Ocala, Fl., David and Diane Smoot Missions Pastors,
for their offering to help offset our trip expenses. Will you
prayerfully consider helping us with the remaining budget of $2000 for
trip expenses. This not only covers my costs but also the cost of
transporting, feeding and blessing our Nigerian Team that has so
faithfully stood with us these past 8 years. |

We Remember
This past month a good friend and wonderful man
of
God went home to be with the Lord, the Rev R.B. Cassidy. Br. Cassidy was
a faithful minister of the gospel for 55 years and was very instrumental
in our ministry. He was part of the presbytery that set me forth when I
was ordained into the ministry in October 1975. It was he who invited me
to Nigeria in 1995 to participate in a Pastors and Ministers Conference
and then shared with me his burden for an unreached people group know as
the Kanuri. That was when God spoke to my heart and told me "This is
that, that I have been preparing you for." Thus, we have been
laboring in Nigeria these past 11 years to accomplish the call of God on
our lives and to help fulfill the dream of a man whose heart was to see
the gospel preached to every creature in all the world. Thank you, Br.
Bud for seeing "potential" in us and investing time and effort to
support and encourage us along the way. Our prayers and thoughts go out
to his wife and daughters as they continue to carry the torch of the
Gospel to light other torches.
